DOC ALLIANCE SELECTION to pięć wysokiej jakości filmów, każdy z nich wybrany przez jednego z partnerów festiwalu Doc Alliance. Pokazy filmów na pięciu festiwalach rozpoczną się na VISIONS DU REEL Nyon. Pod koniec roku międzynarodowe jury zadecyduje o przyznaniu Nagrody Doc Alliance. W 2009 roku zostanie ona wręczona podczas DOK Lipsk. Pięć rynków w danych krajach zobowiązało się do wspierania filmów podczas festiwali jak również zaangażowania się w ich dystrybucję kinową, telewizyjną oraz na DVD.
